PVC fittings and junction boxes

Two grey plastic junction boxes, one with several entries, the other closed with an engraved number.

A PVC fitting and a PVC junction box give wiring its connection, branching and protection points in an electrical installation. Accès Distribution Produits stocks CSA-certified PVC fittings and the electrical junction box in PVC that resist corrosion and humidity, for indoor and outdoor work alike.

How to choose your PVC fitting or junction box

Tell a fitting from a junction box

A PVC fitting joins two conduit sections in a straight line or at an angle. A PVC electrical box is an enclosed box that protects wire connections and lets you branch circuits. Both are essential in any PVC conduit installation.

Check the diameter and the number of entries

The fitting diameter has to match the PVC conduit you're running. Junction boxes come with different entry configurations (1, 2, 3 or 4 entries) and different diameters per entry. Count the conduits you need to connect before you pick the box.

Choose for the environment

A PVC junction box shrugs off corrosion and humidity, which makes it a fit for outdoor and underground installations. Where there's direct water exposure, check the IP rating and run sealing gaskets at the entries.

Frequently asked questions

A fitting joins two conduits (in line or at an angle) with no access to the wires. A junction box gives you access to the wire connections for wiring, branching and maintenance. The code requires a junction box at every wire connection point.

PVC resists corrosion, UV and humidity. A PVC junction box with a watertight cover is suited to outdoor and underground installations.

Yes. Every PVC joint has to be cemented with PVC cement to seal it and hold the assembly together.
