How to choose your PVC service head

Check the mast diameter

The service entrance head has to match the diameter of the PVC conduit used for the mast, generally 2½" to 3" for a 200A residential service. The diameter comes out of the load calculation and the utility's requirements.

Confirm utility compliance

Hydro-Quebec requires service heads that meet its technical specifications. The PVC electrical mast head has to let grid wires in while shedding water back out of the conduit. Confirm the model your utility approves.

Choose the number of entries

Service heads come in 3-entry configurations for supply cables. The number of entries depends on the service type (single-phase or three-phase).
