How to choose your cantruss accessories

Identify the mounting type

Conduit clamps lock conduit (PVC, EMT, rigid) to the cantruss channel. Wall supports anchor the channel to the building structure. Threaded rods hang the cantruss from the ceiling. Each mounting type carries a maximum load listed on the spec sheet.

Check diameter and compatibility

Conduit clamps are sized to the conduit diameter (½" to 4"). Channel bolts and spring nuts drop into the channel groove and have to match the standard 1⅝" format. Confirm the channel and the accessories are compatible before you order.

Plan quantities by section

Count one support or anchor point every 1.2 to 1.8 metres depending on the load. You'll need a conduit clamp for every conduit that crosses or runs alongside the cantruss.

Most are. The standard channel formats 1⅝" x 1⅝" and 1⅝" x 1" carry across the major manufacturers. Check the channel dimensions on the spec sheet to confirm.

It depends on the support type, the material and the span. The spec sheets list the maximum load per anchor point. For heavy loads, tighten up the spacing between supports.

Suspension takes threaded rods (⅜" or ½"), ceiling mounting nuts and channel nuts to tie the rod to the channel. The rod length depends on the distance between the ceiling and the height you want.
