How to choose your PVC elbow

Choose the bend angle

90° elbows are the workhorses for perpendicular direction changes (vertical to horizontal, say). 45° elbows give you smoother transitions and cut friction when you're pulling wire. 22½° elbows handle fine alignment adjustments.

Stay within code bend limits

The Canadian Electrical Code caps the total bend between two pull points at 360°. Past that, you need a pull box. A run with four 90° elbows hits that limit.

Check the bend radius

Large-radius elbows make wire pulling easier, especially with heavy-gauge conductors. Standard-radius elbows suit small to medium-gauge wire.

Frequently asked questions

The code caps the total at 360° of bend between two pull points. With 90° elbows, that's 4. Mixing 90° and 45° elbow joints, the combination has to stay under 360°.

Yes. Every PVC joint, elbows included, has to be cemented with PVC cement. Coat both surfaces, seat the conduit with a quarter turn and hold for 30 seconds.

Every elbow we carry is CSA-certified, which is mandatory for electrical installations in Canada.
