PVC conduit straps

Grey plastic supports for electrical raceways, shown on a wooden floor.

A PVC strap secures PVC electrical conduit to walls, ceilings and support structures. Accès Distribution Produits stocks CSA-certified PVC pipe straps in standard diameters from ½ inch to 4 inches, built for fast installs that meet the Canadian Electrical Code.

How to choose your PVC straps

Check the conduit diameter

The strap has to match the outer diameter of the PVC conduit.

Meet the spacing the code requires

The Canadian Electrical Code calls for a strap within 900 mm (3 feet) of each box or fitting, then at intervals of no more than 1.5 metres along the run. Vertical conduit gets tighter spacing.

Choose the mounting type

A PVC strap fastens to the wall or ceiling with a screw. Two-piece models (screwed base plus locking clip) make it easier to pull and swap conduit, while one-piece straps are simpler and more economical. Either way, the strap holds the conduit off the surface, which keeps maintenance simple, especially in food-grade environments. PVC pipe straps come in dimensions that line up with the standard conduit diameters, from ½ inch to 4 inches: pick the one that matches your conduit exactly.

Frequently asked questions

The code requires a strap within 900 mm (3 feet) of each box or fitting and at intervals of no more than 1.5 metres along the run. Follow these spacings for a compliant install.

A PVC strap resists corrosion and UV. Use stainless-steel screws on outdoor installs to keep rust from forming at the mounting point.

You can, but a PVC clamp avoids galvanic corrosion and damage to the conduit, so it's the recommended choice on PVC runs. That said, a coated metal strap resists corrosion, holds more, and supports heavier loads on 2" to 4" conduit.
